TEAM PHOTO and PASTA NIGHT
Just a reminder, tonight is our team photo and pasta dinner beginning at 5:30 p.m. Please have your swimmer(s) wear their team suit for the photo. Pasta and salad will be provided but we would greatly appreciate it if each family would bring drinks and/or dessert for 10 people. We have broken down assignments based on age groups. If you have multiple swimmers, please base your donation on your youngest swimmer.

Key Items:
Swim meets (signing out): If your child is not able to attend a swim meet, please use the sign out book located in the guard office to sign him/her out of the meet. Please provide both their name and age. It would be greatly appreciated by the coaching staff if you are able to sign them out by Wednesday at the latest for that week so that entries can be shifted around as necessary. Also, if you are unable to stay the entire meet please let a coach know. Leaving early affects not only the team, but also many of the relays. This past weekend we had to scratch numerous relays which kept many children from swimming that were really looking forward to it. So, please if you know in advanced that you will not be here for a swim meet, sign your child(ren) out in the book in the guard office by Wednesday of that week.
Practices: Due to the summer afternoon storms, I ask that if you able to, come to as many morning practices as possible to ensure adequate practice time. Also, please make sure your children have goggles for practice.
Clinics: I will be offering clinics through out the months of June and July to help with stroke modification, tune-up, and technique. If you would like to sign them up, the book is in the guard off. The clinics are 4 days of the week for an hour. The cost per child per clinic is $20 and for two children it is $30. I have limited the number of swimmers to 15 so that the other coach and I are able to give each child one on one instruction. Please see the schedule listed below and sign up!
June 23 to June 26: Breaststroke from 12-1pm and and the Butterfly from 1-2pm
June 29 to July 2: Starts and turns from 12-pm and the Freestyle & Backstroke from 1-2pm
July 6 to July 9: All strokes

I will also be providing private lessons to whoever wishes to sign up for some one on one extra help. You can either see me at the pool or e-mail me @ LBelch417@gmail.com to set up times and dates. Piedmont Meet Information
This Saturday's meet will begin at 7:00 a.m. Piedmont will warm up at 6:10, Lake Manassas will warm up at 6:30. The meet will be held at the Simpson pool at the South entrance to Piedmont. From Lake Manassas:
- 29 North to Rt 55, turn LEFT.
- Drive to second light at Catharpin Road, turn RIGHT onto Catharpin.
- Cross over intersection with Heathcote Blvd. and drive another 1/4 mile to Clatterbuck Loop and the entrance to Piedmont. Turn LEFT into Piedmont.
- Once you pass the gate and come to a stop sign, turn RIGHT onto Snickerville Road, and LEFT into the pool parking lot.
I will be sending out the final volunteer sign-up list tonight. Please make sure your name is on the list.

President's Update
With the swim season almost upon us, the Lake Manassas Swim Team Board would like to update you on several issues. As you all are aware, our first practice will kick off on Tuesday, May 26 from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. for 10-unders, and 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. for 11-older. Our terrific coaching staff is in place and looks forward to getting started next week.
Other updates:
-Registration: all swimmers must be registered by June 5. Please note, several addressees are not registered. To help you out, attached is the registration form. Forms can be dropped off at the Baird's house (7959 Valderrama Court) or collected at next week's practices. Please remember, your swimmer cannot practice or compete without a completed form on file. Also, we have registration forms for seven swimmers but still need the fees. If you submitted your form but not the payment, please make sure to get us the payment before June 5.
-Parent Meeting: the meeting is scheduled for Friday, May 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the pool. This will be a great opportunity for you to meet the coaches and Board members, and to learn more about the exciting season ahead. Please mark your schedule for this meeting.

Welcome- Lake Manassas Blue Dolphins Swim Coach and Staff
On behalf of the Lake Manassas Swim Team Board, I am proud to announce that we have hired an outstanding coaching staff for this summer. Our head coach is Laura Belch. Laura will graduate from Randolph Macon University in May. Laura swam all four years for the University and brings a wealth of swimming and coaching experience to our team. Our assistant coaches this year are Kelly Fini and Jessica Larsen. Kelly is completing her freshman year at the College of William and Mary. She swims for the College and has years of swimming experience. Jessica needs no introduction as she is is well-known to all of us. She is completing her freshman year at the University of Virginia. All three coaches know each other and bring a collective background of swimming, coaching and enthusiasm to our team. They recognize the importance of instruction and of making it fun for our swimmers. We are delighted to have them on board and look forward to a great summer season.
Other important information pertaining to the team is outlined below:
-Spring Swim at the Freedom Center - we will hold spring training sessions at the Freedom Center. Attached is the registration form. The sessions will be held on Saturdays from 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Sessions are scheduled for April 26, May 9, May 16 and May 23. The registration fee to participate in the four sessions is $20.00 per swimmer. If you are interested, please complete the attached form and drop it off at the Baird's house - 7959 Valderrama Court. Please note, all swimmers must be registered to participate in the Saturday sessions and must be able to swim 25 yards without stopping (this is a Freedom Center requirement).
-May Registration - Stay tuned for more information regarding the day/time for our May registration drive. Our new team swim suit will be available for purchase at the registration drive as well as form to order other team apparel.

The Prince William Swim League has put together a fantastic training clinic for all Volunteers and Officials. We are especially in need of more Stroke and Turn Judges this year! Last year we only had a total of 3 and this year we'd like to have at least 8.
The clinics will be on Saturday May 30th from 11am til 2pm. There will also be a clinic on Wednesday June 10th from 7pm to 9pm. The location will be the Bristow Run Elementary school.

2009 Swim Team Schedule
Lake Manassas Swim Team Volunteers:
Occasionally you have the rare opportunity to be associated with great parents who care enough to contribute their time, talent and effort for the community and the children of Lake Manassas. 2008 was a great summer and I'm looking forward to 2009. I can't thank you enough for your willingness to take on new volunteer roles despite many parents who had no prior experience as timers, runners, score-keepers, announcers, stroke/turn judges, clerk of course, ribbon writers, parking attendants, concessions, and other duties as assigned.
The 2009 Blue Dolphins Summer Swimming Season is rapidly approaching and I wanted to reach out say "Hi, what role can I put you down for?" Just kidding! (sort of) This year we will be soliciting Captains to run point on coordinating, recruiting, and acting as the single point of contact for each volunteer role. Please let me know if you are interested. There will also be a training clinic for all roles sponsored by the Prince William Swim League (PWSL). Details to follow! We will need 100% participation just like we had last year in order to make this a successful season. We will be hosting Divisionals this year and I look forward to the challenge of providing a venue that we can all be proud of in representing Lake Manassas.
We are also in need of anyone who has website development skills and would like to build a public facing site for our Lake Manassas Blue Dolphins. The current site at www.lmbluedolphins.blogspot.com will continue to be used as an operational site for volunteers and internal communications. The new public facing site will provide a more professional appearance and :
Highlight advertisers and other sponsers who donate to our LM BlueDolphin Swim team
Provide a professional appearance
Provide relevant links to other key content, directions, teams, and schedules
Provide a proprietary domain name
Utilize advertising and search technology to ensure that when the public enters a search for Lake Manassas Blue Dolphins that the search is prominantly positioned within Google and other search utilities

In addition, we will be putting together an accurate email list of all parents to ensure that everyone is getting the most up to date information. We will be hosting Divisionals this year and I look forward to the challenge of providing a venue that we can all be proud of in representing Lake Manassas.
We are also in need of anyone who has website development skills and would like to build a public facing site for our Lake Manassas Blue Dolphins. The current site at www.lmbluedolphins.blogspot.com will continue to be used as an operational site for volunteers and internal communications. The new public facing site will provide a more professional appearance and :
Highlight advertisers and other sponsers who donate to our LM BlueDolphin Swim team
Provide a professional appearance
Provide relevant links to other key content, directions, teams, and schedules
Provide a proprietary domain name
Utilize advertising and search technology to ensure that when the public enters a search for Lake Manassas Blue Dolphins that the search is prominantly positioned within Google and other search utilities
Allow for dynamic changes and administration of the site

June 20 Brookside Home
June 27 Virginia Oaks Away
July 11 Stonewall Away
July 18 Stonebridge Home
July 25 Divisionals Home
Please note, there is no official swim meet scheduled for the weekend of July 4th. Each team received 3 home meets as this year we have only 5 meets plus the divisionals. We are currently interviewing coaches and hope to provide everyone with an update soon. Once I get the dates confirmed for the Clinics I will notify everyone via email. In addition, we will be putting together an accurate email list of all parents to ensure that everyone is getting the most up to date information.
